Lancashire Mindfulness

A not-for-profit social enterprise  based in Lancashire that exists to promote high quality mindfulness-based courses, information, workshops and training

formerly Mindful Nation UK LTD.

Subtitle

We are focused on providing high quality, great value  mindfulness workshops/taster sessions and 8-week mindfulness courses , supervision and high quality, supportive mindfulness teacher training. We also offer practice Days of Mindfulness for current and past course participants, mindfulness teachers and trainee teachers.

All of our teachers are experienced health professionals with in-depth training in mindfulness approaches. All of our teachers abide by the UK Guidelines for Mindfulness Teachers and registered mindfulness teachers on the Be Mindful Mental Health Foundation website.

We are a training organisation and maintain strong links with other Mindfulness-based training organisations across the UK. Our training pathway offers a mentored, placement-based, experiential training experience 18 - 24 months in duration with an acknowledgment that trainees and practitioners benefit from a strong network of support and continued professional development.

We are inspired by the great work of the many people supporting the Mindfulness Initiative, by the dedicated hard work of our colleagues at the Oxford Mindfulness Centre and by the enthusiasm and passion shown by the Mindfulness All Party Parliamentary Group. We aspire to make mindfulness courses more accessible to all, including health professionals and teachers in line with recommendations from the Mindful Nation All Party Parliamentary Report published in 2015.

ABOUT OUR TEACHERS & TRAINERS

Lisa Graham is an accredited CBT therapist, supervisor and trainer with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), working in the NHS for almost 20 years. She initially trained in MBSR at Bangor in 2001 with Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli. Later under the mentorship of Alistair Smith she became an MBCT teacher, trainer and supervisor in the NHS.

Since 2008 Lisa has worked with Alistair to train teachers to deliver MBCT across the NHS. In 2012 Alistair retired and Lisa continued to develop NHS MBCT provision and offer Mindfulness Teacher Development Training and practice-based placements in the NHS. Lisa and her colleagues across Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust were proud to be part of the ASPIRE study; working with the research team to collate information of their 15 year implementation journey of MBCT in the NHS.

In 2014, rationalisation in the NHS led to an end to the MBCT teacher development pathway. In April 2015, due to competing priorities across IAPT Services, locality NHS MBCT courses ceased across the Lancashire area.

Lisa is passionate about mindfulness provision and aspires to work with colleagues and partner organisations to re-establish mindfulness provision and training in Lancashire. She has established a not-for-profit Community Interest Company and her organisation has been accepted as a Training Provider for MBCT by the UK Network of Mindfulness-based Teacher Training Organisations. Lisa is registered as a mindfulness teacher with the UK Network and is also registered as a mindfulness teacher on the Be Mindful Mental Health Foundation website.

Lisa has a consultancy contract with Oxford University (2016) and has been selected to teach an 8-week Mindfulness for a Frantic World course for the MYRIAD Trial,  a randomised controlled trial of Mindfulness in Schools run by Oxford Mindfulness Centre (OMC). She also benefits from individual mindfulness supervision from Maret Dymond who is a teacher, supervisor and trainer at the OMC.  Lisa also helps to co-ordinate the Mindfulness Initiative Newsletter Presently, in a voluntary capacity.
